In one of our previous blogs, we spoke of not missing those opportunity of just taking time, to breathe and take the opportunity to re-energise. Ahhhh imagine if we could just do that.
Well we can! And by not doing that more often we do raise the toxins that are around us.
When many people are asked about what they can do to re-energise, many would suggest sleep. And it is here where the opportunity to just stop, relax, set ourselves up for sleep and leave the world behind is very available to us. Well isn’t it. Go ahead, when next in bed – google it.
STOP – don’t do that. Please don’t do that. Do you have any idea what the light from your smart device or computer is potentially doing to you. Especially before you try and sleep.
We have provided a link below to an article about a recent study looking at the impacts of using smart devices, such as iPads, while in bed.
“Researchers found that participants using iPads displayed reduced levels of melatonin, a hormone that typically increases in the evening and helps induce sleepiness. They took longer to fall asleep, and spent less time in restorative REM, or rapid-eye movement, sleep.”
The article goes into more depth regarding the impacts of such devices and particularly the longer term health issues that we may not have even considered.
“For instance, chronic suppression of melatonin has been linked to increased risk of prostate, colorectal and breast cancers. And a persistent lack of sleep has been associated with obesity and diabetes.”
It is so easy to have these devices in easy reach for use while in our bedroom. Especially for use as alarm clocks or even listening to music before you sleep. I do it! What happened to the good old manual clocks?
So my challenge is to leave ALL devices outside the bedroom and ensure that I do not use any for at least 1 hour before sleep. Who is going to join me on this challenge?
Stay tuned for another post on the wider issue of EMFs.
